A total of 1.5 million tons of minerals have been extracted from Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province’s mines so far in the current Iranian year (started March 21), said Behzad Ebrahimi, the head of Mining Operations Department at Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Mining, Industries and Trade Organization. The extracted minerals include decorative stones, sand, gypsum and silica. The provincial mines have a production capacity of 9.8 million tons per year and produced 6 million tons of minerals in the last fiscal year to March 2017, IRIB reported. Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari is home to about 3.6% of all Iranian mines while constituting only 1% of the country’s entire area.
