Airport Activity Remains Buoyant

Iran Airports Company registered 84,043 takeoffs and landings in the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21), which shows an 8% rise compared with the similar period of previous year.

About 10.60 million passengers and 105,700 tons of cargo were transported during the period, each indicating a 12% rise year-on-year, IAC reported on its website.

As for domestic flights, close to 68,800 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 9% year-on-year.

More than 8.3 million passengers and around 65,300 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating a 13% and 16% rise respectively over the same period.

On the international front, about 15,300 takeoffs and landings were registered, increasing 5% YOY.

A total of 2.2 million passengers and 40,400 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, each posting an 8% increase.

Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest domestic airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, managing 54 airports across the country.
