Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture unveiled an online system for investments, which has been designed specifically to provide foreigners with any information they may need for assessing investment prospects in Iran.
"By referring to this new system, foreign investors can become aware of the significant information on investment opportunities in Iran and any rules and regulations governing economic activities and foreign investments in the country," Ferial Mostofi, a member of the Tehran chamber, was also quoted as saying by the official news website of TCCIM.
At the TCCIM board meeting on Tuesday in which the new system was unveiled, Mostowfi was appointed director of the Center for Investment Services that runs the website.
"Without foreign and domestic investments, there will be no capacity to generate jobs," she said.
A high rate of unemployment, currently around 12.5%, is one of the central issues the Iranian economy is grappling with and has taken center-stage in the debates and arguments ahead of the upcoming presidential elections on May 19.
According to the official, the website will also offer advice to any potential foreign investor.
Last year, TCCIM employed domestic and international consultants to create a roadmap for foreign investment in Iran, especially since the country is estimated to need $43 billion to achieve the 8% growth projected in its sixth five-year development plan (2017-22).
That information has been incorporated into the website and as Mostowfi says, it seeks to connect with the embassies of other countries in Tehran and Iranian embassies in other countries "to identify and introduce the country's projects and opportunities to foreign investors".
