A total of 96,000 tons of goods were transited by road between Iran and Russia during the first three months of 2017, up 21.7% year-on-year. Russian trucks accounted for 83% of the overall goods transited between the two countries, IRNA reported citing Russian transport officials attending the Joint Road Transport Commission held in Moscow on Friday.

At the event, the two sides negotiated ways of facilitating road cargo transport, improving security and promoting tourism.

The International North-South Transport Corridor, a multimodal international transit route from India to Europe, passing through Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia, was also a major topic at the Friday session.
