Saman Bank has become the first Iranian lender to receive training in Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention based on the International Compliance Association standards.

This is the first time Iranian students have been able to undergo ICA training in Iran and marks a shift in the standard of professional compliance qualifications available to Iran’s banking employees.

Saman Bank is leading the way for Iranian banks to comply with international banking standards.

The course was taught by Iran-registered banking compliance experts OSACO Financial this week in Tehran.

OSACO instructors Roland Guennou and Leila Kashtiban led two 2-day workshops at the Saman Academy for 20 students as part of their study for globally-recognized qualifications from ICA.

According to a press release by OSACO, delegates were drawn from Saman Bank’s Risk & Compliance, Client Relationships and International Affairs Departments.

Impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of Saman’s staff, Guennou said the participants “highlighted the strong work already being done by Saman Bank in the areas of regulatory compliance, know-your-customer, anti-money laundering, the fight against financial crime and promoting the bank-wide culture of compliance.”

For these certificate-level courses, students study online for two to three months before attending workshops and sitting for online exams.  OSACO Financial is the exclusive provider of ICA qualifications in Iran. It also provides advisory services to help banks and other institutions meet international compliance standards.
