Government revenues from mining operations in Hormozgan Province stood at 150 billion rials ($3.94 million) in the last fiscal year (March 2016-17), indicating a 79% growth compared to the year before, the head of Hormozgan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization said. Khalil Qasemi added that 12 million tons of minerals, including ornamental stones, leftover stone, gypsum, iron ore and rock salt, were extracted in the province last year. Hormozgan Province is home to about 400 active mines employing over 3,000 people, IRNA reported.
