TSE Gauge Ends Week 1.2% Higher

Tehran Stock Exchange’s main index gained 946 points or 1.2% during the week that ended April 19 to close at 79,597.

IFX, the over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse’s benchmark, gained 14 points or 1.6% during the week to 922.

Trading at the two exchanges begins on Saturday and ends on Wednesday. Both were closed on Tuesday last week.

Over 4.79 billion shares valued at $239.92 million were traded on TSE last week. The number of traded shares and trade value shrank by 23% and 32% compared to the previous week.

TSE’s First Market Index added 149 points or 0.3% to end at 55,078. The Second Market Index gained 4,913 points or 2.8% to close at 177,306.

At IFB, more than 2.27 billion securities valued at $285.86 million were traded. The number of traded shares dropped by 25% while weekly trade value grew by 6% compared to the previous week. IFB’s market cap lost $49.28 billion or 0.2% to reach $28.92 billion.

Its First Market witnessed the trading of 211 million securities valued at $11.89 million, indicating an 11% and 27% downturn in both the number of traded securities and trade value respectively.

About 830 million securities valued at $55.76 million were traded in the Second Market, with the number of traded securities and trade value dropping by 53% and 33% week-on-week respectively.
