Iran Median Age Rises to 31.1 Years

The recent National Population and Housing Census shows that the median age of the Iranian population has risen to 31.1 years. The figure stood at 25 years in the fiscal March 2006-7, according to Statistical Center of Iran.

The census results show female median age in Iran is 31.3 years and male median age is 30.9 years. About 44.8% of the Iranian population are between 30 and 64 years.

The census put the percentage of people between 0 and 14 years at 24% and those between 15 and 29 years at 25.1% of the total population while 6.1% of Iranian people are above 65 years.

The latest national census was carried out nationwide as of September 24, 2016, in two stages of online and door-to-door registration. The door-to-door phase, which was the second phase, ended on November 18, 2016.
