The goods and services Consumer Price Index for rural areas in the 12-month period ending March 20, which marks the end of the last month of the past Iranian year (Esfand), increased by 7.2% compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Statistical Center of Iran reported. The center had reported a 7.1% rural inflation for the preceding Iranian month. The overall rural CPI (using Iranian year to March 2012) stood at 254.6 in Esfand, indicating a 1.8% increase compared with the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 9.3% compared with last year’s similar month.
