Bank Melli Iran and the Central Bank of Russia have agreed to revitalize cooperation to support the two countries’ trade ties.
During a meeting with Dmitry Skobelkin, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Russia, Mohammad Reza Hosseinzadeh, the CEO of Bank Melli Iran, said strong banking relations play an important role in achieving bilateral trade and financial goals.
“BMI and MIR Business Bank of Russia (MBB) are ready to support the businesses,” Hosseinzadeh was quoted as saying by IBENA. The BMI chief praised the efforts of both countries’ central banks and added that BMI has developed correspondent relations with major Russian banks.
“MBB had a strategic role in the interactions of Iran and Russia’s banking systems and operates under Russian banking regulations. The bank is now ready to offer services to Iranian businessmen,” he added. Skoblekin expressed his satisfaction over expansion of relations between Iran and Russia, particularly in banking relations since the central banks of the two countries are working closer.
