Countrywide Exploration Projects Concluded

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization has concluded the preliminary exploration of all 22 mineral zones it operates across the country, announced IMIDRO’s head of exploration projects, Ali Asgharzadeh, on Tuesday. The detailed results of the survey have yet to be released, IMIDRO reported on its website. The zones’ total area is more than 254,789 square kilometers. They are located in Golestan, Markazi, South Khorasan, Kurdestan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, Zanjan, East Azarbaijan and Kermanshah provinces. IMIDRO started its comprehensive exploration project back in 2013, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade, and the Geological Survey of Iran. Iran is home to 68 minerals with more than 37 billion tons of proven and 57 billion tons of potential reserves, including major deposits in coal, iron ore, copper, lead, zinc, chromium, uranium and gold.
