Iran's Kurdestan Province Attracts $610m in FDI Since 2013

About $610 million worth of foreign investments have been made in Kurdestan Province since President Hassan Rouhani took office in August 2013, the governor general of the northwestern Iranian province said.

"Before Rouhani, no foreign investments were made in the province. When completed, these projects will create 2,000 direct and 5,400 indirect jobs for the locals," Abdolmohammad Zahedi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

The people of Kurdestan are mainly active in agriculture and livestock farming. Its major agricultural products are wheat, barley, grains and fruits. Chemical, metal, textile, leather and food production are some of the main industrial activities of this province.
