National Iranian Copper Industry Company’s subsidiaries Sarcheshmeh, Sungun and Miduk copper complexes produced 805,063 tons of copper concentrate in the nine months to December 20, registering a 20% rise compared to last year’s corresponding period.
The three companies also produced 89,984 tons of the industrial material in the Iranian month of Azar (November 21-December 20), recording 5% growth year-over-year. NICICO is the leading copper producer in the Middle East and North Africa region as the mines it operates hold close to 14% of Asia’s copper deposits and about 3% of global reserves.
Iran holds about 4 billion tons of estimated copper reserves, according to the Geological Survey of Iran.
