Mehdiabad Lead and Zinc Complex produced 594,905 tons of lead and zinc lumps during the nine months to December 20, registering a 31% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period. The company’s sale of the industrial material also rose 41% for the period to reach 168,714 tons. Located in Yazd Province, the mine is one of the world’s largest deposits of zinc and lead with proven reserves of up to 342 million tons. Iran produces close to 5.2% of the world’s lead and zinc.
