Iran’s KSC Sales Hit Record High

Despite challenging market conditions, Iran’s billet and longs producer Khorasan Steel Complex managed to significantly increase sales volumes over the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20–Dec. 20, 2016).  Exports also lent some support to the company. Over the period under review, KSC sold 652,916 tons of steel products. The volumes surged by 22.3% (around 118,000 tons) year-on-year. As a result, the company reached the highest sales level since the beginning of operations, Metal Expert learnt from an official statement released by KSC.  Its products included rebar and billet mainly as well as some quantity of DRI. The major share of the material (92%) changed hands domestically while remaining volumes–51,500 tons–were sold abroad.  “Despite the sanctions removal and slightly better economic environment, the domestic market in Iran is still weak regardless of region. So, we have been trying to increase our exports since 2015,” the statement said. Khorasan Steel’s previous record over nine months was registered two years ago (March 21–December 20, 2014). The figure amounted to 609,000 tons.
