Central Bank of Iran has required banks to safeguard the confidentiality of their customers’ information, unless for cases involving a judicial order. Valiollah Seif, the CBI governor, write this in a letter to chief executives of banks and credit institutions, CBI’s website reported on Monday. As per law, individuals and companies’ financial and monetary information with banks including type of bank accounts and the value of deposits is considered private. Releasing confidential state documents also is subject to prior permission from the judiciary. Offenders can be suspended from holding any state or government office for six months to one year.
