Officials from the Central Insurance company of Iran will visit Germany next month for talks with major German and British insurance firms. Abdolnasser Hemmati, head of the CII, said attracting foreign investment in the insurance sector will be a priority during the talks, banker.ir reported on Friday. He noted that European insurers are also keen on investing in Iran. The CII, as the industry’s regulator, will not interfere in foreign firms’ plans to reenter Iran. He said at the moment two major European insurance firms are in Iran, studying the market and (directly) negotiating with insurance firms. Hemmati did not name the two companies. As per law, foreigners are allowed to own 49% of insurance firms in Iran’s mainland and fully own firms in the free trade and economic zones.
