Taiwan Futures Exchange will help Iran Mercantile Exchange set up derivatives for gold and agricultural products. Cooperation between the two will focus on jumpstarting options trading on the IME. As a first step, the two exchanges will hold joint training workshops to share TAIFEX’s expertise and train IME staff, Mehr News Agency reported. Chief executives of the two exchanges met on the sidelines of the 56th annual meeting of the World Federation of Exchanges in Cartagena, Colombia, held on Nov. 2-4. Taifex offers futures and options on major Taiwan stock indices, government bond futures, equity options and 30-day CP interest rate futures and its expertise could greatly help IME handle securities more efficiently. IME launched online trading of gold coin Certificates of Deposit on July 12, starting spot gold trading in Iran. Gold coin futures have been traded in Iran since 2008.
