Online Census Ends With 46% Participation

The online phase of the eighth round of the National Population and Housing Census ended at 12 a.m. on October 21 with close to 11.1 million households or 37.2 million people having registered with the Statistical Center of Iran’s database. According to the SCI chief, Omid Ali Parsa, the participation rate stood at 46.4%, with Semnan Province recording the highest rate, IRNA reported. The door-to-door phase of the census began on October 19 and will continue for a month. Meanwhile, Saturday (October 22) was marked as National Statistics Day in Iran. The Statistical Center of Iran is the official body in charge of providing data on Iran’s population, agriculture, manufacturing, trade and economy. The Central Bank of Iran also releases periodic statistics on Iran’s macroeconomic data, which happen to differ from those of the SCI.
