Iranian Zinc Mines Development Company’s subsidiaries produced 7,978 tons of zinc ingots in the Iranian month ending September 21, indicating a 10% growth in output compared with last year’s corresponding period, the company reported on its website. According to statistics published by IZMDC, Calcimin Company accounted for 2,742 tons of the overall figure, National Iranian Lead and Zinc Company for 479 tons, Iranian Mineral Processing Company for 509 tons, Qeshm Zinc Melting and Reduction Complex for 1,473 tons, Bandar Abbas Zinc Production Company for 682 tons and Bafgh Zinc Smelting Company for 2,093 tons. Based on the goals envisioned in the 20-Year National Vision Plan (2005-25), Iran’s zinc ingot output is set to reach 300,000 by the end of 2025. Iran is the second leading producer of zinc in the Middle East and North Africa region after Turkey.
