Indonesia’s newly-appointed Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita has asked Ambassador to Iran Dian Wirengjurit to identify new trade opportunities in the Islamic Republic following the lifting of nuclear sanctions against Tehran. IRNA cited Jakarta-based TV station Metro TV News as saying that Lukita was appointed late July after a reshuffle in Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s Cabinet aimed at economic reforms. According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Iran exported $81.5 million worth of non-oil goods to Indonesia in the last Iranian year (March 2015-16), registering a 17% hike compared to the year before. Imports stood at $109.4 million, down 8% year-on-year. Iran mainly exports petrochemicals, carpet, lead, natural rubber, medical equipment and dates to Indonesia and imports palm oil, paper, wood pulp, coffee, tuna fish and auto parts in return.
