Demands by foreign investors to enter the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) have grown and recently a European financial institution has gained the permission to invest $20 million in the market, said the CEO of the Securities and Exchange Organization (SEO). Ali Salehabadi said a special committee has been formed to remove the obstacles in the way of foreign investment in the equity market. A key measure necessary to be taken by the central bank is to help foreign investors easily transfer their money, added Salehabadi. So far, the TSE’s benchmark TEDPIX index has been driven by domestic investors, including Iranian stockholders, public sector pension funds and the investment arms of state-owned and privatized banks.
