EDBI Financing Chabahar Port Development

Export Development Bank of Iran will allocate $334 million for the expansion of the loading capacity of Chabahar port. According to EDBI’s chief executive, Ali Salehabadi, the first tranche of the loan, worth €20 million has already been provided.” “Loading capacity at Chabahar Port will rise from 2 million tons to 8 million tons,” Salehabadi was quoted as saying during the third meeting of Iranian and Afghan Exporters Sunday in Tehran. Located in southeastern end of the country, close to Indian Ocean, Chabahar can play a significant role in the expansion of Afghanistan’s trade with the world. Salehabadi noted that a 50-million-euro credit line is planned for exporters of Iranian goods to Afghanistan, through the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran, mainly “for boosting trade between the two countries.”
