Mazandaran Post Office has launched a new service to deliver agricultural products across the country. The so-called AgroPost will help direct shipment of crops cultivated in the northern province, thereby eliminating the role of unruly middlemen in the supply chain.
According to the director general of Mazandaran Post Office, Esmael Boudaghi, so far the services are available for rice, citrus and kiwi, but later will be expanded to include other fruits, IRNA reported. Over 70 kinds of agricultural produce is grown in Mazandaran, which supplies 40% of domestic demand for rice, 50% for citrus and 100% for kiwi.
