Ministry of Roads and Urban Development on Monday completed 4,550 housing units in Pardis township, Tehran Province as part of the Mehr Housing scheme. The apartments are located in Iranshahr District with the basic infrastructure, including water and electricity supply, in place the ministry’s website reported. Lack of infrastructure development has been a major impediment of the multi-billion dollar low-cost housing scheme launched by the previous administration.The Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi has said the new units would be delivered only after improving the infrastructure. The ministry is also planning to complete four other phases of the Mehr Housing Projects in Pardis in east Tehran by the end of summer. An estimated 83,500 housing units are planned to be built in Pardis, 12,000 of which have already been delivered.
