The first phase of a major steel plant in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province has become operational, according to the governor general of the province, Qasem Soleymani Dashtaki. The plant. established by Mobarakeh Steel Company with an investment of $17 million, is capable of producing 800,000 tons of direct reduced iron per year. According to the official, the construction of the second phase of the project for producing steel ingots using DRI is due to be completed by the end of August. He also noted that the plant’s third and final phases of steel sheet manufacturing will become operational by 2021, IRNA reported.
