Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO) has announced the list of provinces with best performance in terms of productivity in their industrial parks, reported IRIB News.
Based on the report, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in the west tops the list, followed by the central Semnan Province. The ISIPO considered numerous factors in the ranking, including the infrastructural quality of the industrial parks, environmental issues and concerns, the number of industrial units, technology parks, industrial clusters, protective services for small industries, etc.
The volume of foreign investment in Iran’s industrial zones and parks topped $783 million during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2014), said Gholamreza Soleimani, ISIPO deputy director, in June.
Currently, industrial zones and parks in 21 Iranian provinces, including East Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, and Qazvin, host 112 foreign investors and as many as 11,000 jobs have been created through these investments.
Increasing employment, boosting exports, and promoting technology transfer are the main advantages of attracting foreign investment in industrial parks.
The government has plans for the establishment of 50-60 new industrial parks by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (ends March 2016). Currently, there are more than 900 industrial parks and zones around the country.
