The spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group each year bring together central bankers, ministers of financeand development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global interest and concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

The CBI chief is also set to discuss the Iranian economy at the Council of Foreign Policy on April 15, the council announced on its website. CFR is an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and publisher in the US. In a separate development, four conservative members of the parliament have asked the CBI governor to announce the names of foreign banks that are cooperating with Iran after the lifting of the sanctions in mid-January, Mehr News Agency reported.

The letterdraws upon recent claims by some businessesregarding restrictions still in place for opening letters of credit and money transactions. It claims that no new bank has restarted cooperating with Iran and “those banks that are working with us including Turkey’s Halkbank, Switzerland’s BCP, Japan’s Mizuho, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and some Indian and Korean banks, had never cut ties with Iranian banks in the first place.”
