By virtue of the Majlis approval, provision of Qarzol-Hasane marriage loans (microcredit and interest-free loans) has become a priority of the banks. According to Mehr News agency, in the open session of parliament on Tuesday, following review of the proposed 2016-17 budget, the Central Bank of Iran should order all of the lenders and credit institutions to contribute a portion of their current and savings deposits to marriage loans. Prioritization of the marriage loans is aimed to promote marriage among the youth, which has seen a steady decline in recent years. The new directive is included in the budget law.
