Copper and copper concentrate export revenues will jump to over $2 billion in the near future, the minister of industry, mines and trade has recently announced, as reported by ISNA. “If the industrial trend continues, copper consumption in the Islamic Republic will rise to 180,000 to 200,000 tons per annum. Meanwhile, production can be pushed to 400,000 tons by 2019, the surplus of which could be exported”, Ahmad Morad Alizadeh, managing director of National Iranian Copper Industries said while confirming the minister’s predictions. The Rouhani administration treats exports as the main driver of economic development in the country and has sought to strengthen trade in many industrial production areas. It has also introduced two major bills to the parliament to increase the capital of Tose’e Saderat Bank and the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran to bolster future exports.
