A total of 137 foreign companies held talks with the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization for investment in the Islamic Republic’s mining and industrial sectors in the current Iranian year (March 2015-16), said IMIDRO Chairman Mehdi Karbasian. According to the official, a majority of the investors flocked to Iran after the removal of sanctions imposed on the country over its nuclear energy program in mid-January. “Attracting foreign investments is the only way for Iran to become the region’s economic powerhouse,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA. Karbasian is also deputy minister of industries, mining and trade.
