1st Blanket Expo in Tehran

The first blanket industry exhibition will be held in Tehran on Tuesday. Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh is scheduled to attend the event, in which advanced weaving and spinning machinery, along with various brands of blankets, will be displayed, Mehr News Agency reported. Finding new export markets, familiarizing producers with the latest machinery, creating jobs and eliminating obstacles facing production are some of the objectives pursued by the exhibition. Excessive imports of the item have in recent years damaged domestic production. To offer support, the Industries Ministry has raised blanket import tariffs to 90%, yet smuggling continues to flood the market with foreign blankets. Delegations from Iraq and Tajikistan are to visit the exhibition and discuss investment and commercial interactions with Iranian companies.
