The technology for the production of catalysts used in direct reduction of iron ore has been successfully indigenized by Sarv Oil and Gas Industries Development Company. The catalyst was used in Mobarakeh Steel Company’s DRI plant on Sunday, our sister publication Donya-e-Eqtesad reported. DRI catalysts, one of the main materials required for the production of sponge iron from pellets, was previously imported from India and European countries for more than 30 years. Domestic demand for this industrial product stands at 500,000 liters per year and is expected to rise to 850,000 liters and open up a market worth $8 million, as new steel mills are established across the country.
