A senior Iranian official has called on Belarus to share its expertise in the production of mining machinery and set up production lines in Iran. Mehdi Karbasian, the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, made the statement during a meeting with Valentin Rybakov, deputy foreign minister of Belarus, IMIDRO reported on its website on Saturday “Setting up mining machinery manufacturing lines in Iran, including dump truck production, will help the country meet the growing domestic demand. It will also enable Iranian firms to tap regional markets,” Karbasian said. The Belarusian minister welcomed the prospect of closer ties with Iran and said the proposals by the Iranian side will be discussed during the upcoming visit of Belarusian Minister of Industry Vitaly M. Vovk to Iran, which is scheduled for April. Belarus is home to BelAZ Company, one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of haulage and earthmoving equipment. In September 2013, BelAZ unveiled the world’s largest mining dump truck called BelAZ-75710, capable of carrying a 540 tons payload and operating in considerably harsh climates.
