IranAir Buys 20 ATR Planes

Flag carrier IranAir signed a contract with French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR in Tehran on Monday to buy 20 ATR-72 turboprop short-haul regional airliners. Two to five of the purchased 70-seat planes will be delivered in 2016, IRNA reported without specifying the value of the deal, which was brokered during President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Italy and France last week. ATR is co-owned by European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and Italian aerospace group Finmeccanica.
