Irancell 3G operator has increased the internet speed by tenfold, said Irancell Chief Executive Officer Alireza Ghalambor Dezfouli. “Nearly 60% of subscribers of second generation are currently under the coverage of third generation,” he said in a press conference held on the occasion of eighth anniversary of the commercial launch of Irancell network on Saturday. Currently 54 cities are under coverage of Irancell’s 3G operator. The service, however, will be extended to 200 cities by the end of this year, the executive said, noting that between 2013 and 2018 data traffic are expected to be increased drastically across the world. The Iranian government has been under fire internally and externally for its treatment of internet. President Hassan Rouhani has promised during his election campaign last year to conduct major reforms on policies regarding internet and social networking sites.
