Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone, located in the southern Hormozgan Province, exported more than 3 million tons of minerals and mineral products valued at over $610 million from March to December 2015, the Iranian Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organization quoted the managing director of SEZ as saying. According to Masoud Hendian, fine and coarse-grained iron ore as well as iron ore concentrates accounted for 2.25 million tons of the overall figure. Over 1.2 million tons of steel slabs, sponge iron, rolled steel sheets, steel ingots and aluminum ingots were exported during the same period.
