The Iranian government will offer some state-owned manufacturing companies to foreign buyers in line with its objective to import technology and attract foreign direct investment, says Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei. Government stakes in Iranian manufacturing plants will be sold on the condition that manufacturing continues in Iran, IRNA quoted Rabiei as saying in his meeting with Iranian diplomatic envoys on Tuesday. The minister said some foreign drug-makers are already in talks for acquiring Iranian pharmaceutical companies, adding that investors are also eying Iranian petrochemical, steel and telecommunication companies.
