Copper Sector to Prosper

The implementation of the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and world powers will pave the way for the copper sector to see an increase in foreign direct investment, says head of Iran Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, Mehdi Karbasian. “Regarding the copper sector, prominent international companies have held effective negotiations with Iran, showing interest in [investing in] the sector,” he was quoted as saying by ISNA. The limited global copper reserves, according to the official, draws prominent international investors closer to Iran, as it is a major copper producer with vast reserves of the metal still unexplored. Last week, the deal called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was officially adopted by Iran, the EU and the US, which will soon lead to the end of economic sanctions against Iran.
