The 66th meeting of Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) executive committee will be held at Bank Keshavarzi’s training center in Babolsar in north Iran, Oct. 7-10.

The bank is simultaneously hosting the ‘Third International Forum on Women’s Empowerment in the Framework of Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region.’

According to the bank’s public relations office, Bank Keshavarzi is hosting the events to fulfill its social responsibility to help promote food security, alleviate poverty, advance women’s empowerment and sustainable development in rural areas.

The general secretariat of APRACA was established at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand and its first general assembly was held in 1977.  Thirty-seven institutions from 16 countries were the association’s founding members, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Iran, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Western Samoa and Thailand.

APRACA now has 76 member institutions in 21 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. It has held events to help develop rural areas and enhance agricultural financing.
