Central Bank of Iran has warned unauthorized financial and credit institutions against inflated certificate of deposit in exchange for property. Some unauthorized credit institutions offer higher prices for properties and instead of paying in cash they offer the sellers CDs at higher interest rates. Usury-free banking law requires banks to open deposits or issue CDs only in return for money.
