The gap between liquidity and deposit growth has been widening in the year that ended on March 20, statistics released by the Central Bank of Iran indicate, banker.ir reported. Although during the 12-month period, liquidity increased by 23.2%, the deposit growth rate was barely 18.9%. Prior to the period, the two rates were almost equal. Experts believe the high rate of liquidity growth could well be due to increase in the monetary base.
