A number of foreign investors, who have visited Aras Free Trade Zone in northwestern Iran, have voiced readiness for investment in the area, a senior trade official announced on Friday. Over 26 groups of investors from different countries have visited the zone since March, said AFTZ Deputy Managing Director Ebrahim Baqerzadeh, Nasim News Agency reported. The zone, a corridor that connects Iran to Central Asian nations, joined the World Free Zones Federation in March, the report said. “The move has played a key role in introducing the Iranian free zone to global investors,” Baqerzadeh said. More than 100 manufacturing and commercial units are now operating in the zone whose products are exported to regional countries.
