Iran has agreed to export 1,000 tons of copper cathode to China, announced the managing director of National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Ahmad Morad Alizadeh, during a meeting with a Chinese trade delegation in Kerman last week. About 194,000 tons of copper cathode were produced last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2015), and experts expect this number to reach 200,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian year. With Iran consuming only 120,000 tons per year, the path to copper exports seems well open. China is the biggest consumer of copper in the world with about 10 million tons of copper consumed annually, 70% of which are imported, IRNA reported.
