Tile production is in excess of the country’s need and manufacturers will fail to sell if prices go up, said the head of Tile Manufacturers and Tile Sellers Union. Factories are currently operating at less than 70% of their production capacity, making around 600 million square meters of tiles on a yearly basis, ILNA quoted Mostafa Goudarzi as saying. “China, Spain, Italy and Turkey export their tiles to Iran, despite the fact that our factories’ products are on a par with world standards,” he added.
