The governor of the city of Bam in Kerman Province has proposed the establishment of a bourse for trading dates to help farmers market and sell their products better. “Bam is one of the leading producers of date in Iran. Launching a date bourse could help boost revenues for the farmers,” Mehr News Agency quoted Reza Ashk as saying. Emphasizing the importance of packaging, brand making and exports, he welcomed foreign investments in Bam, noting that currently about 1.3 trillion rials ($40 million at market exchange rate) is being invested in the development projects of the city.
