Migration of rural population to urban areas is causing capital outflow from the agricultural sector, warned Hamed Qaderzadeh, an agricultural expert. Lack of infrastructure such as roads and processing industries, wide gap in quality of services and facilities in rural and urban areas and lack of strategic plans by the relevant authorities are seen by the expert as factors leading to migration from rural areas, ISNA reported. Another problem, according to the expert, is that a lot of young people in rural areas have academic education which makes them reluctant to stay in villages. He also noted that poor transportation in rural areas poses a major barrier to efficient transfer of agricultural produce from farms.
