The Iran Mercantile Exchange’s agricultural trading floor played host to close to 5,500 tons of durum wheat, 1,200 tons of white sugar and 645 tons of rice supplied by local farmers as well as 700 tons of rice from Thailand on Tuesday, IME reported.

The oil and petrochemical trading floor featured 87,406 tons of related products.

Elsewhere, the export trading floor witnessed the offering of 9,260 tons of bitumen 6070 and 200 tons of roof insulation for overseas markets.

The industrial and mining trading floor played host to 3,500 tons of commodities, including 700 tons of aluminum ingot of 99.75-percent purity offered by Almahdi Hormozal Aluminum Company. Iranian Aluminum Company offered 700 tons of the same commodity. In addition, Calcimin Company supplied 200 tons of zinc ingots, while 1,900 tons of metallurgical coke were offered by Zarand Coke Company.

 Dramatic Surge in Monthly Trade

Meanwhile, statistics show trade volume of commodities exported to overseas markets via the IME’s export trading floor in the one-month period ending May 21 (Iranian month of Ordibehesht) surged about 117 percent, while trade value posted 46 percent growth.

More than 601,000 tons of commodities, valued around $136 million, including about 200,000 tons of iron ore, 373,000 tons of various grades of bitumen, 25,000 tons of sulfur and 2,858 tons of roof insulation, were traded during the period.
