Hormozgan Steel Company’s steel slab manufacturing increased by 10% to 1.17 million metric tons over the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20) compared with the preceding year; IRNA cited statistics released by the company’s foreign relations office. The company accounted for 26.6 percent of domestic steel production and 27.3 percent of the country’s exports during the year. Hormozgan Steel Company has a nominal capacity to annually produce 1.5 million metric tons of steel slabs of 200- 250 millimeters in thickness, 900-2000 millimeters in width and 6,000-12,000 millimeters in length. Also, the company has the capacity to manufacture 1.65 million metric tons of sponge iron, 90,000 metric tons of lime, oxygen, nitrogen and argon.
