Polymetallic Reserves Discovered

Polymetallic mines with estimated reserves of about 10 million metric tons have been discovered in the southwestern Province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, IRNA quoted head of the province’s industry, mine, and trade organization, Naeim Emami, adding that copper, cobalt, and zinc ores were discovered in an area of about 100 square-kilometers. “Further exploration operations are to be implemented in Sabzkooh region of the province once the necessary permits are obtained from the department of environment, which will probably lead to discovery of more proven reserves,” said the official. A polymetallic ore is an ore that is the source of more than one metal suitable for recovery. Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province has more than 180 mines in which some 1,560 people work. Extending the national exploration operations into the western regions of the country in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) could lead to discovery of more minerals in the province.
